#fixthebill - make sure Canadians don't use banned cluster munitions

Dear Minister Baird:

Cluster munitions cause predictable and unacceptable harm to civilians, both at the time of use and for many years after.  It is my strong belief that these weapons are morally unacceptable.

I am proud that Canada is making strides towards ratifying the Convention on Cluster Munitions but I am ashamed that our draft legislation if passed unchanged will be the weakest in the world.  The current draft domestic legislation contains unacceptable loopholes.  By my signature, I support revising Bill S-10 to make it clear that no Canadian should ever be involved in the use of cluster munitions for any reason, anywhere, at any time, for anyone.
